Dream Center Cafeteria Produced 1,335 Free Lunches A Day for Midlands Youth During Summer
The Midlands Community Development Corporation's Dream Center Cafeteria provides free lunch to school age children throughout the summer as part of the Summer Food Service Program. Lunch is provided Mondays through Fridays from June to August to children 18 years old or younger.
During the summer of 2007, the MCDC Dream Center Cafeteria served over 23,000 meals to youth in the Midlands area through six community sites. In 2008, that number quadrupled! The Dream Center Cafeteria Summer Feeding Progam has grown to 24 community sites in an effort to ensure youth in the Midlands have access to a free nutrious meal during the summer break.
