Housing counseling services are offered at MCDC for prospective home buyers who would benefit from individualized sessions with certified counselors.
MCDC is blessed to have a total of four counselors (one on staff and three volunteers) who have many years of combined experience in providing one-on-one guidance in preparation for home ownership. Counselors help participants put into action many of the principles learned in the Money Smart and Home Ownership classes by developing household budgets, reviewing credit reports and creating credit score improvement plans, developing savings strategies, and reviewing debt to income ratios as deemed desirable by lending institutions.
Counseling sessions are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please fill out the form below or call Tangie Beaty at 803.726.0566.
MCDC housing counselors are also trained in assisting those who are facing foreclosure in developing strategies to maintain their homes and/or positive credit histories through mitigation. Counselors will work with individuals to develop a mitigation plan and may even contact the mortgage holder to negotiate payment options.
